Plot: Television executive Katy (Eva Mendes) develops what she hopes will
become the most watched television show of all time. Before getting to
the final idea, she interviews a number of people (her co-workers
included) in order to get inspiration. Though getting resistance from
lawyers claiming this would be a suicidal game, Katy develops the
ultimate game show called Live!, in which six contestants play Russian
roulette with a revolver with six chambers loaded with one live cartridge
and five dummy cartridges.

Most of the characters speak in an American accent, since the movie is
set in the USA and the characters are American citizens. There are very
few exceptions throughout the movie: a British man who proposes an idea
for the live show, a woman who cheers for contestants in a Chinese accent
and a contestant who speaks in a Mexican accent as he is interviewed for
the available spot.
Monet Mazur performs a monologue towards the middle-to-end of the movie,
and her character speaks in a continental accent. The reason can be
traced in the reason why she wants to participate to the live show: she
wants to pursue her career as performance artist. This means that her
continental accent can be seen and justified as part of her career
project.

Instance Description: Abalone performs a speech before spinning the
Russian roulette she owns in her hand. She denounces the lack of choice
women had over their lives for thousands of years by stating that her
being there meant she was given a choice. Her speech is performative, and
so is her use of language.

you. I would like to dedicate this performance to all the vestal virgins
and women sacrificed victims throughout history. Whether in Mayan, Greek,
or Roman culture, men have always pursued their horrible desires for
redemption by somehow believing they could become purified if they killed
the dirty woman. Women have been sacrificed for thousand of years, told
that their law in life was to die so that men could pacify the gods, and
for all those years women were never given a choice. But this woman was,
and I cast my loss with them.
